JOAQUIN PONCE RODRIGUEZ - IMPORT MANAGER
How did you get started in the food industry?
I have loved food since my childhood. I gave up on my dream of becoming a professional cook because of my parents' opposition. The passion for food and ingredients made me travel to explore the world's gastronomy at early age exposing myself to the culinary culture of each country and region, accumulating the most touching and happy experiences. In 2009 a big change in my life made me immigrate from my country to Australia. Australia gave the opportunity to connect with my childhood passion and start my journey in the food industry professionally.
When did you join Fino?
2024, but I’ve worked with Fino since 2016 as a consulant focusing on Spanish products and as a supplier.
Describe your role
My role at Fino Foods is to run the import side of the business. Maintaing the relationship with our suppliers, looking for new opportunities, and responsible for all the steps once the products leave our suppliers (Italy, France, Spain, Japan) till they get to our doors in Australia.
Favourite food memory?
Arriving from school and feeling the smell that came from the kitchen as soon as I opened the door. Mum always singing and cooking and asking me to help her to prepare the food. Those memories in the kitchen after school made me love food.
